Senior Software Engineer - Private Debt

Why This Role Is Important This position is a key part of SimCorp’s Private Debt initiative – a high‑priority project that is expanding to meet increasing client demand. The Senior Software Engineer will help design and deliver the core back‑office application that enables clients to make investment decisions.

Technology Focus The Private Debt module is primarily built in APL, with strong engineering practices around quality, code review, continuous delivery and reliability. As the system evolves, more C#/.NET work will be added, especially around architecture, cloud integration, platform enablement and new components.

Responsibilities Design and develop backend systems in APL (current core).

Guide engineers through code reviews, technical planning and Agile practices.

Partner closely with Product and other engineering peers to deliver business‑critical outcomes efficiently.

Drive code quality and reliability through unit testing, integration testing, CI/CD and established engineering standards.

Identify performance bottlenecks and bugs and devise sustainable solutions.

Use Git‑based workflows and work effectively in a continuous integration environment.

Collaborate with cross‑located teams and contribute to shared ways of working across sites.

Communicate effectively with business stakeholders and understand client‑specific requirements.

Qualifications Bachelor’s degree in computer science, information technology or a related field.

3+ years of software development experience.

Strong engineering fundamentals: object‑oriented design, architecture patterns, clean code and pragmatic problem solving.

Solid experience in C#/.NET (Core or Framework), building backend APIs, services and integrations.

Familiarity with REST APIs and messaging concepts (e.g., service bus patterns).

Proficient with code versioning tools such as Git.

Experience with automated testing, CI/CD and strong code‑review habits.

Strong problem‑solving skills with the ability to work independently and as part of a team.

Comfortable collaborating with multiple stakeholders and communicating clearly in an international environment.

APL Readiness Prior APL experience is not required. Curiosity and a willingness to learn are the key qualifications. SimCorp provides comprehensive training and support to help engineers become proficient in APL, and the company partly owns Dyalog APL.

Nice‑to‑Have Finance or regulated‑industry experience.

Exposure to vector‑based or functional languages (useful for ramping up in APL).
