Senior Software Engineer – Catalog & Inventory Platform Aarhus, Denmark Backend Distributed Systems Go

Uber Eats is evolving. We’re moving beyond food to become a platform for delivering what people need, whether that’s groceries, pharmacy items, or retail goods. At the heart of this shift is INCA (Inventory & Catalog): the system that takes in massive inventories from merchants, enriches and normalizes that data, and serves it reliably across Uber’s global systems.

We’re looking for Senior Software Engineers in Aarhus who want to help shape this platform and take ownership of critical parts of how we store, update, and publish catalog and inventory information around the worldfor Uber Eats.

What You Will Do At the Catalog & Inventory team, your work will directly shape how Uber’s delivery platform scales, adapts, and expands into new categories. The services you build will help:

Serve everyone’s shopping needs, from small convenience stores to large supermarkets, with consistent, accurate catalog and inventory data.

Make it easier for new merchants and business verticals to connect their inventory with our systems.

Keep inventory and catalog data accurate and fresh in real time, even under heavy load.

Support the reliability and extensibility of Uber’s delivery platform as we grow into new categories.

You will:

Design and build backend services in Go that power catalog and inventory data throughout Uber’s marketplace.

Build and maintain systems that handle real-time updates and high-volume ingestion workloads, think billions of updates per day.

Work with cross-functional teams, including engineering, merchant integrations, search, fulfillment, and product, to make sure APIs and data models align with shared goals.

Push for high-quality design, testing, observability, and performance in everything we build.

Take ownership of services from design through production and help shape the technical direction of the team.

Improve how we work, refining monitoring and on-call practices, documentation, and architectural decisions.

Basic Qualifications Required

6+ years building backend services at scale

Experience coding with Go, C++, Java, or Python

Experience with event-driven architecture

Ability to turn business problems into effective technical designs

Comfortable navigating ambiguity and adapting to change

Nice to Have

Experience with large catalog, search, or metadata platforms

Experience with distributed systems

Familiarity with distributed data stores, caches, and pub/sub systems

Background in e-commerce, retail platforms, or content management systems

Contributions to open-source projects or public technical discussions
