KOSMOS is a growing international cost and commercial consultancy operating across Denmark and Ireland, providing specialist commercial and project advisory services to the construction and infrastructure sectors.
As the business continues to grow, KOSMOS is looking to appoint a reliable and hands-on Finance & Bookkeeping Manager to provide maternity cover from approximately mid-to-late September 2026 until August 2027.
This is a practical, delivery-focused finance position rather than a strategic or corporate finance role. The successful individual will take responsibility for the day-to-day bookkeeping and financial administration of the Danish and Irish businesses, alongside monthly and quarterly reporting, VAT preparation, debtor follow-up and year-end support.
The position is expected to require approximately 2–3 days per week, with some flexibility around the final working pattern. KOSMOS is open to either employing the successful individual directly on a part-time basis or considering an experienced interim/contract professional.
A strong working knowledge of e-conomic is particularly important, as this sits at the heart of the company's bookkeeping, reconciliation and financial reporting processes.
Job Description
The Finance & Bookkeeping Manager will take day-to-day ownership of KOSMOS' core bookkeeping and accounting activities across its Danish operations as well as supporting those in Ireland.
Working closely with the management team and colleagues across both businesses, you will ensure transactions are correctly recorded and reconciled, financial information is accurate and up to date, overdue invoices are appropriately followed up, and management reporting is produced in line with existing processes.
The business benefits from a largely automated and integrated accounting process within e-conomic, while there are some aspects that require manual input.
You will also play an important role during year-end, supporting external auditors in Denmark and Ireland and ensuring the necessary financial information and documentation is readily available.
The position would suit someone who enjoys being close to the detail, is comfortable taking ownership of their work and can operate independently within a growing international SME environment.
Job Responsibilities
Manage day-to-day and weekly bookkeeping activities across the Danish business while supporting their Irish operations.
Record, review and correctly categorise financial transactions within e-conomic.
Undertake regular bank reconciliations and ensure accounting records remain accurate and up to date.
Coordinate with colleagues responsible for the Irish business to ensure transactions are uploaded, categorised and reconciled correctly.
Produce monthly financial reporting using KOSMOS' established reporting templates.
Support quarterly financial reporting and forecasting, extracting and consolidating the appropriate financial information from e-conomic.
Monitor outstanding invoices and produce a weekly overdue debtor report.
Work with Project Leads to ensure overdue invoices are followed up appropriately with clients.
Follow up directly with clients regarding outstanding payments where the appropriate contacts are available.
Prepare quarterly Danish VAT reporting for review with management prior to submission.
Support coordinating bi-monthly Irish VAT requirements, ensuring the necessary information is available ahead of relevant deadlines.
Manage the year-end closing of the books and preparation of financial information required by external auditors.
Liaise with Danish and Irish auditors and provide supporting documentation, financial extracts and reconciliations as required.
Maintain accurate and organised financial records across both entities.
Support the wider management team with ad hoc accounting and financial administration when required.
Profile Required
Strong practical experience in bookkeeping, accounting or financial administration, ideally within an SME or professional services environment.
Good working knowledge of e-conomic is essential.
Comfortable independently managing day-to-day bookkeeping and bank reconciliations.
Experience preparing monthly and quarterly financial reports.
Working knowledge of VAT reporting and associated financial administration.
Experience supporting year-end close and external audit processes.
Strong attention to detail and confidence working with financial data.
Highly organised, dependable and comfortable managing recurring financial deadlines.
Able to work independently while communicating effectively with colleagues, management and external advisers.
Experience working across multiple legal entities or international businesses would be advantageous.
Previous exposure to both Danish and Irish accounting requirements would be beneficial, although not essential.
Fluent or strong professional English required; Danish language capability would be advantageous.
What Sets This Opportunity Apart
Join a growing international construction and project advisory consultancy.
Flexible part-time position of approximately 2–3 days per week.
Opportunity to work closely with the leadership team of an entrepreneurial and ambitious business.
Take genuine ownership of the day-to-day finance function rather than operating within a large corporate structure.
Exposure to both Danish and Irish business operations.
Established accounting and reporting processes already in place.
Flexibility around either a part-time employment or interim/contract arrangement.
Approximately 11-month maternity cover assignment, providing a meaningful medium-term opportunity.
